Terms of Service
Last updated: 5 October 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using HelpSelf, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use our service.
2. Not Medical Advice
HelpSelf is NOT a replacement for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Our AI provides emotional support and coping strategies, but it is not a licensed therapist or medical professional. Always seek advice from qualified healthcare professionals for mental health conditions.
Mental Health Emergency: If you are experiencing a crisis, contact emergency services (999) or Samaritans (116 123) immediately. HelpSelf is not designed for emergency situations.
3. AI Limitations
HelpSelf uses AI technology that:
- May produce inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate responses
- May misinterpret your messages or emotional state
- Does not guarantee therapeutic outcomes
- Should not be relied upon as the sole source of mental health support
You are responsible for evaluating the AI's advice and deciding whether to follow it.
4. User Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use HelpSelf. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
5. Your Responsibilities
When using HelpSelf, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information
- Use the service for personal mental health support only
- Not misuse the service (spam, abuse, harassment)
- Not share your account with others
- Comply with applicable laws
6. Service Availability
We strive to provide a reliable service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or modify the service for maintenance, upgrades, or other reasons without notice.
7. Intellectual Property
Your data: You retain ownership of your therapy conversations and personal data. By using HelpSelf, you grant us a license to process your data solely for the purpose of providing the service (as described in our Privacy Policy).
Our platform: HelpSelf owns all rights to the app, its software, its design and its mascots. The AI models that write replies belong to the companies that make them. You may not copy, modify, or reverse-engineer our service.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by UK law:
- We do NOT exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- We do NOT exclude liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- For all other losses, our liability is limited to the subscription price you paid in the last 12 months (or £100 for free users)
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of HelpSelf.
9. Termination
By you: You can delete your account at any time via Settings → Account → Delete Account. All your data is permanently deleted at once, and this cannot be undone. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel that in your iPhone’s Settings.
By us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service or engage in abusive behavior.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via the app. Continued use of HelpSelf after changes constitutes acceptance.
